Stefano de Peppo was born in Italy and began his career as a boy soprano at La Scala in Milan. He is known for his powerful bass-baritone, his crisp diction, and his skills as a singing actor. He mostly specializes in roles of the traditional repertory of the Italian comedic operas of the 18th and 19th centuries. His Leporello (Don Giovanni), Bartolo (The Barber of Seville and The Marriage of Figaro), Don Pasquale, Mustafa (The Italian Girl in Algiers), Sulpice (The Daughter of the Regiment), Sacristan (Tosca), Gianni Schicchi, Alcindoro/Benoit (La bohème), Dulcamara (The Elixir of Love), and Don Alfonso (Così fan tutte) have been a great success in most theatres of the US, Spain, Mexico, Colombia, Israel, Italy, Germany, England, and France. He recently took part in the premiere of the new opera Tenor Overboard by Ken Ludwig/Gioachino Rossini at the Glimmerglass Festival, directed by Francesca Zambello.
