Tim Fitz-Gerald is thrilled to be making his Pensacola Opera debut. He is an Instructor of Musical Theatre at the University of West Florida. Before coming to UWF, Tim was a faculty member at LaGrange College, Georgia State University, as well as Virginia Commonwealth University, where he served as director/ choreographer on several shows including: Urinetown, Crazy for You, A Few Good Men, No Exit, I Love You Because, and an original showcase he conceived, wrote, and directed entitled
A Story to Tell. Additionally, Tim will direct Ride the Cyclone this spring at UWF.
As an actor, Tim created the role of “Chris Bell” in The Boy from Oz, opposite Hugh Jackman on Broadway. He has toured Nationally with Wicked, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolored Dreamcoat, as well as Titanic the Musical. Off-Broadway, Tim was seen in Reefer Madness, and originated the role of “Rat” in The Wind in the Willows. He played “Brad” in the 25th anniversary cast of The Rocky Horror Show in Los Angeles, opposite David Arquette. Regionally, he was seen as “Bobby Strong” in Urinetown, “Lumiere” in Beauty and the Beast, “Jinx” in Forever Plaid, “Matt” in The Fantastiks, and “Joe Kennedy” and “Jerry” in Grey Gardens, among others.
Tim graduated from Syracuse University earning a BFA in Musical Theatre, as well as an MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in Theatre Pedagogy. Tim lives in Pensacola, Florida with his wife Brenda, and their beautiful daughter Maira.
