details

Ever since Beethoven’s esteemed “An die ferne Geliebte” took the musical world by storm, many composers have created song sets—known as cycles—as cohesive collections of individual art songs. Bonded together either by a narrative throughline or a common theme, a song cycle takes the audience on a journey with the performer from the first song to the last. This program features our 2021-22 Artists in Residence in their final concert of the season. The program will consist of Richard Wagner’s “Wesendonck Lieder,” H. Leslie Adams’s “Nightsongs,” Franz Liszt’s “Petrarch Sonnets,” and Gerald Finzi’s “Let Us Garlands Bring.”

Featuring soprano Emily Michiko Jensen, mezzo-soprano Imara Miles, tenor Robert Hartfield, baritone Ron Dukes, and pianists Andrew Pham and Cody Martin.

Tickets are $15 each, available online or by calling the Opera Center, beginning March 1. Capacity is limited at the Opera Center, and audience members are asked to wear masks throughout the performance.
