Veterans Chorus | The Falling & The Rising
a unique opportunity for veterans & active duty service members
we want you!
Pensacola Opera will be performing Zach Redler and Jerre Dye’s contemporary opera The Falling & The Rising this November. As part of the opera, there is an opportunity to include a chorus of veterans during the final scene—so we need YOU! If you would like to join us for this once-in-a-lifetime volunteer performance opportunity, see the details below and let us know you’re interested by completing the form linked below.
The Details:
- SCHEDULE: Performances will be in the evenings of November 20 & 21, 2026. We will hold 2-3 music rehearsals in late-October (likely on Saturdays), followed by 2 staging sessions (learning when and how you’ll enter the stage and sing the veterans chorus music), 3 dress rehearsals, and then the performances. A complete schedule will be available later this fall.
- MUSIC: No prior music-reading experience is necessary, but it would be helpful! Those selected to participate will be provided with sheet music of the veterans chorus passage, as well as recorded tracks to learn and practice your part between the group rehearsals. The music is relatively simple, in a two-part arrangement (lasting around 5 minutes). The performances will be accompanied with a chamber orchestra, alongside a cast of professional vocalists.
- ELIGIBILITY: This opportunity is open to all Pensacola-area veterans, active duty, and reserve service members of any age, with any level of musical experience. (A brief audition may be requested for those with no prior singing experience.) Accommodations and staging modifications can be made for those with any special needs or ambulatory differences.
